SQL Developer – Front Office  Technology

 

Talentspot has partnered with a Top Tier, global Investment firm to support their search for a talented technologist to join its Global Credit Technology Team, based in Dublin.

 

They are not looking for ‘just a SQL Developer’, as you’ll be ‘almost operational’ working day-to day supporting the trading business. You will be exclusively focused on a vendor supplied trading order management system, working with a lot of SQL that’s been created by the company to add their own SQL based, bespoke business logic to what is a highly extensible application.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong SQL development skills working for several years on complex database-driven applications or alternatively operational experience in the Credit or Asset Management domain supplemented by some SQL experience with a keen interest in learning more.

 

As a member of the team you will join a small group of developers responsible for building and supporting the front-office tools that support their Credit business.  You will partner directly with front-office investment colleagues, operations, finance, and compliance teams to solve complex business problems in creative ways, automate key processes, and make recommendations on how technology and data can improve investment decisions.

 

As your internal clients are front-office investment professionals, excellent inter-personal and communication skills are required alongside a creative problem solving mindset. Technical/Business Skills

• 3 + years’ SQL (they are Microsoft but you don’t need T-SQL) development experience and a genuine passion to learn the business side

OR

• A strong desire to learn SQL from a technical foundation combined with 3+ years of experience in Financial Services Technology or; knowledge of credit instruments and the credit market experience working with front office investment professionals
• Python, Java, Ruby or other OO language experience a plus

• Excellent Interpersonal skills
• Personable and good at relationship building (with traders, PMs)
• Business Analysis ( to understand what’s the business is trying to accomplish
• Someone who’ll thrive in a demanding trading business where you’ll need to ‘drop everything’ for important and urgent business needs that require your expertise in a reactionary fashion; gaining satisfaction in turning work around quickly, releasing changes on the platform several times a day.  
• Also comfortable working on bigger, new projects, and managing those demands (such as new compliance rules, or customer-specific projects)
