Linux Systems Engineer

 

Talentspot are working with a fast growing, very dynamic and market leading tech company who are looking for a Linux System Administrator with Chef automation experience.

 

Skills & Expertise:

 

• In-depth knowledge of Linux System administration.
• Excellent knowledge of Chef (having created cookbooks and recipes from scratch)
• Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Chef severs
• A good understanding of CI/CD principles/methodologies and tools
• Experience automating operational tasks in at least one of the following: BASH, Python, Ruby
• Monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshoot systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, patching, collaborating with System Engineers & Architects on optimisation
• Provide on call support for the Development Operations team in an outage situation
• Work as part of the team to ensure projects and goals are delivered to agreed timelines
• Maintenance of documentation relating to new and current systems throughout the organisation
• Experience with one of the following middleware applications is a plus: RabbitMQ, NiFi, Redis, Memcached
• Experience with RHEL based Linux distributions

 

 

Essential Experience:

 

• 3+ years’ proven experience as Linux Systems Engineer
• 2+ years’ commercial experience using Chef
• Strong knowledge and troubleshooting ability on the Networking Stack
• An ethos of approaching problems with a sense of ownership, passion and innovation
• Very good communications skills to articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organisation, both technically and non-technically

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

BSc computer science / engineering or higher

Linux, Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certifications
