A global sporting organisation is embarking on an exciting phase of transformation. They are actively seeking an Interim Head of Group Technology Operations to rejuvenate a small yet critical IT operations team. This role necessitates the establishment and implementation of industry standards and best practices, as well as the technical ability to occasionally take a hands-on approach in support of the team. Exceptional leadership skills and stakeholder management acumen are paramount in fostering team unity, providing coaching and managing stakeholder expectations.

As the Interim Head of Group Technology Operations, you'll provide essential support to the Group Technology Director in formulating a comprehensive strategy and approach for the Technical Operations function. This includes engaging with technology providers on the design, implementation, and operational support of infrastructure, systems, applications, and services across global operations. The role demands outstanding stakeholder relationship management skills, a proven track record in project management within a complex environment, and an in-depth technical understanding of cloud infrastructure, applications, security, and network operations.
This position ensures the overall quality and value of our clients’ technology operations, with a keen focus on the availability, performance, and support of their systems.

The role will be based in Dublin, office presence is required two to three days a week.


Responsibilities:
  • Direct a team of service desk, devops, and application IT professionals, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation, and learning
  • Craft the Technology Operations strategy in close collaboration with the Group Technology Director, ensuring that you have the technological resources to expand operations globally
  • Oversee Technology Operations, technical management, application management, meeting technology, and the global service desk needs
  • Manage, maintain, and continually improve the infrastructure that supports the organisation's services
  • Ensure the efficient provision of IT services to all staff, in line with defined SLAs and to a high standard
  • Explore an outsourcing support model where suitable, benefitting the organisation in terms of service performance, availability, and cost
  • Supervise the corporate applications landscape, applications control, and management to ensure the organisation gets value for money and broader benefits from an expanding suite of applications
  • Monitor network infrastructure, resolve system issues, and have experience in IT performance management, network administration, and system security
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of efficient, user-friendly meeting technology across all offices globally
  • Manage essential professional relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, Extended Leadership Group, and external providers

Experience required:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing technology solutions and projects in a complex IT environment, including the direct management of vendor relationships and Service Level Agreements in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Clear, effective, and excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with IT industry standards, comprehensive understanding of networks, cloud computing, and awareness of emerging technology opportunities.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure services and solutions in high-availability and controlled environments.
  • Understanding of the challenges associated with outsourcing the management of hardware and infrastructure services, complemented with strong vendor management experience.
  • Familiarity with data protection operations and legislation (e.g., GDPR) along with experience in defining and implementing policies within a global technology team.
  • Strong understanding of managing multiple projects, balancing competing business expectations, fixed timelines, and budgets.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organisational skills paired with an adept problem-solving ability.
