Senior SQL Developer - Front Office Credit & Risk Engineering, Permanent in Central Dublin | Hybrid
Talentspot has partnered with a top-tier, global investment firm to support their search for a talented Engineer to join their Global Credit Technology Team, based in central Dublin. They are not looking for ‘just a SQL Developer’, as you’ll be ‘almost operational’ working day-to-day supporting the trading operations business.
In the short to medium term, you will be focused on developing, tuning, and supporting a trading order management application. This will involve working with a lot of T-SQL that’s been created by the company, where they've added their own SQL-based, bespoke, business logic to what is a highly extensible application. There will also be ad-hoc development projects to support new business opportunities driven by new investment initiatives and regulatory requirements.
In the longer term, their technology roadmap plans for use of this business-critical application to be reduced by building new, replacement applications in-house. The design, build and delivery of these new applications will be principally owned by you.
The ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong SQL development experience of 8 - 10 years. And to support the new development roadmap, Python, or a very strong desire to learn Python based on having other OO programming language experience (such as Java, Ruby etc).
You will join a small group of developers responsible for building and supporting the front-office tools that support their very large Credit business. You will partner directly with front-office investment colleagues, operations, finance, and compliance teams to solve complex business problems in creative ways, automate key processes, and make recommendations on how technology and data can improve and streamline investment decisions.
As your internal clients are front-office investment professionals, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required alongside a creative problem-solving mindset. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-calibre team and to bring technical innovation to an interesting and fast-paced business, in which, our customer is a global market leader.
